Upstream (engine-out)
Mounted before the SCR catalyst, it reports the NOx leaving the engine so the after-treatment controller can calculate how much reductant (DEF/AdBlue) to dose.

NOx sensors are part of the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) control loop in diesel after-treatment. Select each sensor for the specific vehicle, system voltage and installation position.
Mounted before the SCR catalyst, it reports the NOx leaving the engine so the after-treatment controller can calculate how much reductant (DEF/AdBlue) to dose.
Mounted after the SCR catalyst, it measures remaining NOx so the system can monitor conversion efficiency, correct dosing and support on-board diagnostics.
Upstream and downstream sensors are often different part numbers even on the same vehicle — confirm the position from your OE number.
NOXIA offers NOx sensor references for commercial-vehicle and engine applications including Volvo, Scania, MAN, DAF, IVECO, Mercedes-Benz, Cummins, Hino, FUSO and Isuzu. Match the OE number and system voltage for each application.
